City of D'Lights has been creating its unique line of specialty cakes and pastries since February 2001, when Pastry Chefs Attila Gogos and Lynne Kawakami took ownership of this bakery in San Ramon, California. Inspired by Attila's European heritage and Lynne's Asian culture, they have created a selection of cakes, pastries, and holiday cookies that not only look fabulous, but taste great, too.
Attila Gogos was born and raised in Hungary where his passion and flair for haute cuisine and patisserie flourished. He graduated from Le Academe de Cuisine in Maryland and worked in a number of prestigious catering companies and embassies on the East Coast for many years. Before relocating to the Bay Area in 1998, he was the Executive Chef at Sutton Place Gourmet in Washington, D.C.
Lynne Kawakami was born in Hawaii and raised in Seattle and Honolulu. She found her first love for cakes with her Easy Bake Oven and in a decorating class at the local community center. A graduate of UC Berkeley and the California Culinary Academy, she completed an externship at the Ritz Carlton, San Francisco and worked as an assistant pastry chef at the Westin St. Francis.
Attila and Lynne met at the Westin St. Francis and became good friends and business partners as they shared their love for the art, culture, and tradition of pastry. They take pride in creating something special and personal for each customer, whether it be a wedding cake, personal cake greeting or a selection of desserts and cookies to match a special menu.
